The space of possible <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_o.htm#object"><I>objects</I></A> that a <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_c.htm#conforming_program"><I>conforming program</I></A> must be prepared to <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_r.htm#read"><I>read</I></A>[1] as the value of a <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_p.htm#pathname"><I>pathname</I></A> component is substantially larger than the space of possible <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_o.htm#object"><I>objects</I></A> that a <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_c.htm#conforming_program"><I>conforming program</I></A> is permitted to <A REL=DEFINITION HREF="26_glo_w.htm#write"><I>write</I></A>[1] into such a component. <P>
