<p>As an extension to the R6RS, Guile allows bytevectors to be manipulated
with the <em class="dfn">array</em> procedures (see <a class="pxref" href="Arrays.html">Arrays</a>). When using these
APIs, bytes are accessed one at a time as 8-bit unsigned integers:
