</I><B><P><A NAME="S578">|578|</A></B> Sir, es sind h&ouml;chst absurde Berichte im Umlauf &uuml;ber die relative St&auml;rke der k&auml;mpfenden Armeen im D&auml;nischen Krieg. Es wird allgemein angenommen, da&szlig; im Verh&auml;ltnis ein D&auml;ne auf mindestens drei Deutsche komme, die Deutschen also zahlenm&auml;&szlig;ig &uuml;berlegen seien. Um zu zeigen, wie wenig das mit den Tatsachen &uuml;bereinstimmt, schlage ich vor, eine detaillierte Aufstellung &uuml;ber die St&auml;rke jeder Armee zu bringen, wenigstens soweit es die Infanterie betrifft; denn &uuml;ber die Kavallerie und Artillerie pr&auml;zise Informationen zu erhalten, w&auml;re gegenw&auml;rtig sehr schwer. </P>
<P>Vor dem Ausbruch der Feindseligkeiten hatten die D&auml;nen folgende Truppen in Schleswig: </P>

<P>Das sind weniger als zwei Soldaten der Verb&uuml;ndeten auf einen D&auml;nen. Wenn die St&auml;rke der d&auml;nischen Verteidigung beim Dannevirke, bei D&uuml;ppel und bei Fredericia in Betracht gezogen wird, ist eine solche zahlenm&auml;&szlig;ige &Uuml;berlegenheit nicht gr&ouml;&szlig;er als man ben&ouml;tigt, um den Erfolg zu sichern. Es ist fast genau das gleiche Verh&auml;ltnis des &Uuml;bergewichts, wie es Wellington und Bl&uuml;cher 1815 &uuml;ber Napoleon hatten.<I> </P>
